Hole by Hole Improvements

Hole 1

The changes to this hole will provide more gathering area around the first tee; provide better putting and chipping area to warm up and by filling in some of the lake make the hole more enjoyable and playable to the higher handicap golfers.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Shift tees away from clubhouse to right edge of existing 18 green
  • Close part of lake to make it easier for high handicappers to hit over the water
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 2

The changes to this hole will provide better safety to the houses down the left side and make the hole more playable for the higher handicappers as well as more strategic for the better golfers.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Colourful landscape around tees
  • Remove fairway bunker on right
  • Add fairway bunkers down left side of fairway
  • Fill in right side of pond in front of green for fairer hole, add drainage pipe
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 3

The changes to this hole will make the tee area more beautiful, eliminate the unnatural straight line down the left and improve the green complex which has lost its character and playability.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Colourful landscapes around tees and railway crossing
  • Add fairway bunkers down left side of the fairway
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 4

This is a good par 3 so no major changes other than rebuilding the tees and green.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 5

The right side of the hole is wet and is quite unfair to the golfers who can only slice the ball. By removing the water body down the right and raising this area, it will make the hole more playable and dry. The open feeling of the second shot and green complex is very airy and nice.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Add back tee
  • Shift white tees to right slightly- for better angle
  • Add fairway bunker down the right side of the fairway;
  • Fill in water right side of landing area and all pipe for fairer hole
  • Add irrigation lake in out of play area
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 6

The purpose of the changes to this hole are to eliminate the forced carry over the ditch (which only affects the higher handicapper) and also remove the driver from the hands of the longer hitter. We want (for playability and safety reasons) golfers to hit short of the railway tracks.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Fill in cross ditch and add pipe
  • Enlarge fairway bunker just short of railway tracks
  • Add trees in bail out area across the tracks
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 7a

This is an optional hole that can be used as an extra hole when other holes are closed for renovation. If the crossover with existing hole 7 (new hole number 8) is not a problem then existing hole 9 can be eliminated to allow for extra parking around the clubhouse.

  • Build new set of tees
  • Remove some trees
  • Build new green at chipping green location
  • Build path in trees along left side to control traffic back to new 8 tees

Hole 8 (new numbering, old Hole 7)

The improvements to this hole will add strategy (fairway bunkering), make the hole more playable for higher handicappers (closing the lake across the fairway) and make the hole more challenging for better players (enlarging the lake closer to the green).

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Add fairway bunkers down left side at first landing area
  • Close lake in fairway and enlarge lake closer to the green
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 9 (new numbering, old Hole 8)

In order to make the existing green 8 the finishing green 18, the new green 8 is shifted to the left near 9 tees and framed by large Rain Trees. A lot of fairway bunkering will make for a spectacular view up the fairway to the clubhouse and also provide separation with green 18.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Add back tee across tracks
  • Add fairway bunkers down left side of landing area and also between 8 and new 18 hole
  • Remove some trees and shift green towards existing 9 tees amongst big Rain Trees
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Old Hole 9

Ideally this hole can be replaced with new Hole 7 and therefore be removed for additional use around the clubhouse. However, if the new crossover that is required for the new Hole 7 proves to be a problem with plat, then this hole can be kept.

  • Option 1 (Preferred option) - eliminate this hole for additional parking space and shift Drink Hut down towards new 10 tees.
  • Option 2- Rebuild tees and green.

Hole 10

This hole is quite good, however, if the 9th Hole is removed when the tees can be shifted closer to the clubhouse and a new Drink Hut built. When the green is rebuilt, the safety of the tees on 11 must be considered.

  • Rebuild tees in new location if existing Hole 9 is eliminated.
  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 11

This is also a good hole that sets up better from the right side of Green 10. A carry bunker adds risk reward to the hole and makes the existing large tree short left of the green a more strategic element in the design.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Shift White tee to right side of 10 green
  • Clean up water body once government has improved sewage in the surrounding area
  • Add carry bunker short right of landing area
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 12

The tee area here is forced back and quite messy and also has man safety issues. By rebuilding the green in the wetland area (after government clean up), we will lengthen the hole considerably and allow for the tees to be pulled forward.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Move tees forward so walk back and tunnel effect is minimised
  • Fill in and pipe low area and clean up and add landscape
  • Add bunkers down left side of fairway for safety, strategy and visual definition
  • Fill in pond in front of green and add pipe to drain this area
  • Clean up water body once government has improved sewage in the surrounding area
  • Remove a few trees and move green into wetland area (if possible)
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 13

This is a good hole so no major changes required.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 14

This is a good par 5 although there are safety issues at the tee which need to be addressed. Also, given the elevation changes, there is good potential for dramatic fairway bunkering.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Shift blue and white tees forward to eliminate the safety problem of the housing down the left side of the tees.
  • Add fairway bunkers down the left side and also into the slope on the right for visual, difficult and safety reasons.
  • Add fairway bunkers in the second landing area to turn hole to the left.
  • Enlarge pond into the fairway to add difficulty but ensure higher handicap for golfers who can still play around the lake
  • Push green further back into the wetland (about 15m) so no yardage is lost when tees are pulled further
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 15

Hole 15 is another good par 5.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Enlarge lake for better drainage in low area down left side of first landing area
  • Add fairway bunkers down the left side to stop balls rolling into the enlarged lake
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 16

The tree line and definition is excellent. No major changes required.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 17

Hole 17 is another good par 4.

  • Rebuild tees- bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Enlarge lake for better drainage between green and water
  • Rebuild green in traditional style

Hole 18

This is a poor finishing hole with safety issues all the way down the right side. The new green location now brings the green and Hole right in the front of the clubhouse. Tees are added to keep the yardage.

  • Rebuild tees- extend back as far as possible into the water area, make bigger, more separation, square design (exact location to be determined in the field)
  • Remove some trees to open up fairway to new green location
  • Number 8 green now becomes green 18
  • Rebuild green in traditional style
